The Garden Centers of Colorado supports locally owned and independent garden centers to successfully compete through education, promotions and sustainable innovations.
Membership is open to:
- - Independently owned garden centers, nurseries and greenhouses
- Any individual, partnership or corporation that is allied to selling lawn and garden products for the consumer.
- A person who is engaged in teaching or research related to lawn and garden products at an accredited school of higher education or,
- an employee of a governmental agency.
- A student who is actively enrolled in an accredited school of higher education.
Members are featured in our user-friendly, home-page map on our website with your logo, directions to your place of business, contact information, and a link to your website home page.
Denver Post 'Grow' Section features weekly horticultural articles written by GCC members, as well as class and event listings at garden centers on Fridays between March and June.
Garden center events, classes, featured plants, timely tips and educational articles are posted for the gardening public on our "Gardening in Colorado" Facebook page.
Growing Green...in Colorado This ad campaign advances sustainability in the green industry through green products and environmental education.
ProGreen EXPO A combined green industry trade show and conference program takes place at the Colorado Convention Center in February. GCC members make suggestions on speakers and topics and are encouraged to attend the entire week of seminars. GCC members receive significant discounts on registration.
Employee training is offered regularly on various topics
Webinars of educational sessions are available for viewing at members' convenience that feature retail tips on selling and merchandising, as well as Many are geared toward employee training for the convenience of the and for members outside of Colorado's Front Range.

Open houses each August expose members to the latest in research. CSU's Annual Flower Trial Gardens have over 1200 varieties of annuals are grown under Colorado conditions, and Welby Gardens invites you to see review their trial gardens.
GCC offers annual educational scholarship to employees of GCC members to encourage continuing education in the green industry. The CSU Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Department holds an annual Career Day designed to expose students to our industry while allowing industry professionals to sponsor an intern for three months.
GCC sponsors member socials and tours to several garden center or retail stores and suppliers around the state.
GCC members are encouraged to accept the opportunity to grow and serve on the GCC board and any of three GCC active committees: Membership/Services, Education or Promotion.
The Green Industries of Colorado (GreenCO) was organized in 1990 to enable the green industry associations to join together with a common voice for the support of a single lobbyist. RJ Hicks & Associates, GreenCO lobbyist, provides GCC with regular reports during the legislative session.
An active GreenCO Legislative Committee establishes priorities and issues, testifies at hearings, and follows issues through the legislature while in session.
Water Initiative / BMP Training GreenCO committees have a consultant to direct efforts on water conservation and preservation and how to collect data to substantiate water budgeting. Training meetings with water providers and green industry groups occur to train professionals about Best Management Practices.
